WHO COULD TELL WORKING WITH METAL
WOULD BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT HEAT,
FRICTION OR EXPENSIVE SETUPS?

The days of using high power lasers, heavy duty machines, heat and dangerous chemicals to work with metal are over.

By harnessing the process of electro etching, a new paradigm of working with metal and conductive materials is here to change radically the subtractive and additive processes of working with metal.

Through a controlled combination of electricity, saltwater and metal’s conductive properties we have created a platform that can etch and cut metal on a desktop machine with submm precision.

The Fluid Metal Etcher addon is the first product resulting from controlling this process.

We call this process localised electro etching.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Running a DC electric current through an electrolyte (saltwater) and jetting through a nozzle over a metal sheet / PCB removes metal particles at the impact point right under the jet.

The result?

Controlled etching of smooth lines using electrochemistry.

Through electrochmistry, we can 3D print metal in room conditions. We call this method localised electro deposition.
The process is so versatile, different metals, alloys, and polymers can be combined.
Furthermore, the dissolved metals from the etching process are completely recoverable.
Meaning, in a not so distant future we will have a model that can use the material removed during the etching process, to 3D print. In metal.
Just like magic 😉
